The Indian International Model United Nations Championship, largest of its kind in the continent, was held from 20th – 23rd August 2015, at Aamby Valley City. The school was represented by 17 of our students who were the delegates of the various committees of MUN. The IIMUN was a plethora of exhilarating and enriching committees such as the SOCHUM, DISEC, Lok Sabha, IP, ECOFIN, SPECPOL, WHO, UN, Indian Cabinet etc. The conference comprised of 3000 delegates from 117 cities from over 30 countries across the world. The committee sessions were followed by speeches under MUN clave by highly learned and revered personalities of the world.
There were speeches by
- William Yotive, manager at the UN headquarters at New York.
- Aizaz Ehsaan, leader of opposition at the Pakistan senate and leader of the lawyers movement in Pakistan.
- Kiran Bedi, first lady IPS officer.
- Ameesh Tripathy, the national best seller author.
- Mani Shankar Aiyyar, former minister of external affairs.
- KTS Tulsi, senior advocate of the Supreme court.
- Subhash Chandra, owner of Zee TV.
- Vidya Balan, the national award winning actress.
- Jwala Gatta, the international badminton player.
Our students made us proud by winning accolades in this extremely tough and challenging competition. Trisha Gupta, of class XII and Kushagra Agarwal, of class X, won the high commendation prize in the committee SOCHUM, Sachin Bhargava, of class XII, won the high commendation prize in IP. Besides this Ayush Verma, of class X, got special mention for his committee UNEP, and Ayushi Verma, of class XII, got verbal mention for her committee WHO.
The committee sessions of MUN made our students imbibe the skills of understanding and combatting world issues besides instilling in them the MUNning skills.
