Beauty, vibrant colours and ceaseless action……

Well, that’s what you see when you spot a butterfly. However, if you see beyond this external charm, you will also see hope, celebrations and transformation. So, we celebrated Valentine’s Day as a Butterfly Day on 14th Feb, 2017.

Children enjoyed making butterflies they also expressed their gratitude towards their parents through loving and affectionate words. They decorated the butterflies with lollipops and handed this token of love to their parents.

‘God helps those

Who help themselves.’

A very true saying which tells us the importance of community helpers in our surroundings. Being a part of our society these people exhibit a social behavior too.

Keeping this motive in our minds, our kids decided to say a big ‘thank you’ to the helpers of our society and we celebrated ‘Helpers’ Day’ on 22nd Feb.,17. There was a ‘Fancy Dress Competition’ organized by the students of class Nursery. It was an intersection competition in which the kids disguised themselves as doctors to save the ill, some as nurses to assist the doctors, some as Police cop to catch the thieves , some as gardeners to help the plants to grow, some as green grocer, pilots, farmers and many more that we see in our surrounding. Also, the students of class Prep took the initiative to appreciate the efforts of our helpers by singing a motivating and thanking song for them.
Overall, It was a flawless gesture by our kids as they spread a message in the society.

WE SHOULD HELP EACH OTHER’.

At Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, we aim for a perfect balance of complimentary factors; ancient and modern, traditional and innovative. We all want to give our children the best start in life.

Nursery Orientation Programme 2017-18 is one such start for the parents and students. It was a measure taken by school to give a brief introduction of the school and its rules and regulation. We extended a warm welcome to the parents and the kids as they became a part of the Jaipuria Family. The introductory session for the parents was conducted by our respected Headmistress Ma’am where she also introduced the class teachers of the respective classes. This was followed by an Interactive Session between the parents and the class teachers in their respective classes.

“True courage is like a kite, contrary winds raise it higher.”

Flying kite is a popular sport in our country. From the auspicious festival of Makar Sakranti till the colourful Holi, one sees the sky dotted with kites of all shapes and hues. Keeping with this tradition, our school celebrated the Spring Fest on 15th Feb,2017. Children were dressed in floral prints. Our beautiful girls wore tiaras and the boys wore garlands made of marigold flowers. They were taken out to the garden for kite flying and they also danced to the rhythm of music.

Teachers were also dressed in floral prints. They also enjoyed themselves and danced with the children.

An Environment Friendly Educational Trip For Staff Of Jaipuria

“The language of Nature is the eternal language of Creation. It is the musical instrument of nature: it replicates the rhythm inherent in life itself. If we listen carefully we will be able to trace within it the murmurs of eternity where the spirit of liberation, peace and beauty lurk, it reminds us of our bond with the world …. If we can accept this music of the wild within us , we can perceive the great music of oneness………”

Rabindranath Tagore

These musical lines have inspired us to plan a Nature Camp for Teachers and Office staff to The Kukrail Forest and Ghariyal Conservation Centre (Lucknow) on 10th April 2017. Kukrail Picnic Spot is a quite natural forest and sanctuary, at a distance of about 9 kms away from the centre of the city. The Ghariyal and Crocodile Rehabilitation Center was developed during the year 1978 and was generously funded by the Uttar Pradesh forest department. The need for conservation of crocodiles was felt owing to the fast decreasing number of Ghariyals in India at that time. This Crocodile Sanctuary and breeding centre is perhaps one of the most renowned centers in India.

It was amazing to view different ponds, sections where ghariyals, crocodiles are raised from eggs to adult size. It was a real fun as the staff actively participated in different dares. In Brave Hearts, we located different sites with particular type of vegetation and geographical features with the help of route map in forest. The view of medicinal garden reminded us our own campus garden. The whole event was refreshing, exciting as well as educational because it was a plastic free trip.

Not Just Academics

School should not only be about attaining marks but also be a platform for holistic development of both the teacher as well as the student. We, at Jaipuria structure our teaching around accepting different perspectives towards everything. We encourage the students to establish mutual respect towards all, gain subject knowledge and develop skills at various activities under the umbrella of co- curricular activities. The school is inducing curricular and extra – curricular ways, to learn about our traditional, value system and also helping the students to appreciate the world of art music and literature.

The need of the hour is to make our students aesthetically and culturally sensitive as the changing times and highly volatile environment is pulling them away from their traditional value. They are losing touch with the cultural back drop, this is very distressing, as this distorted information is leading them to prejudices and intolerance. We at Jaipuria provide the space for the students to work in groups to explore and experiment together in the form of group activities and group projects, to break from their prejudices, imbibing them to accept all view points and at the same time teaching them leadership qualities. We aim at developing compassion and sensitivity among our children along with academics.

Is the Government responsible for the terrorist attacks?

$

POINT

Terrorism is the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political, religious or ideological aims. It creates terror of fear amongst the people. In modern times, terrorism as a whole is considered a major threat to society and therefore illegal under anti –terrorism laws in any jurisdictions.

The way terrorism has grown and spread beyond limits during the last few years is a matter of great concern for all of us. Though it has been condemned and denounced by leaders in international forums, it is increasing by leaps and bounds and is in evidence everywhere.

Since independence, India has been facing many terrorist attacks, and according to me the government is responsible for these attacks. Let us go back to 26th November, 2008 when a terrorist attack took place in the city of Mumbai, although it has a very strong security system. Another example is the terrorist attack in the capital of U.P Lucknow which happened recently. What can we expect from our government or the defence system when so many lives have been sacrificed because of them? There should be taken an action against this or it will be too late.

MEDHA AGARWAL
7B

COUNTER POINT

This is not a mere salutation, but an awakening alarm. So people, wake up. It’s high time now.

Well, I completely disagree that the government is responsible for the terrorist attacks. I would like to ask you all a very simple question, why do we appoint a Defence Minister or form a committee for the defence of the nation. Allow me to take you back to the 26th of November, 2008, when the prestigious Taj Hotel was under the abduction of the terrorists. The foremost help provided to the victims was and the hotel was from the local police followed by the National Commandos. Another example for the same is when the Indian Parliament was gripped by the treacherous terrorists who catered us with heavy gun fire.

Well, back to what I mentioned earlier. The government is not at all responsible for the terrorist attacks. This shows that our very own government and the defence system have always been efficient enough in defending the terrorist attacks. They have always provided safety and security to the people.

Well, tell me a single Indian who was playing the armour in this dreadful fight. According to me, we should have firm, doubtless faith on our government. With this I rest my case but not my stand that the government is not at all responsible for the terrorist attacks and has been protecting us since long.

Preamble to Internationalism –“Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”

The need for global awareness is something that is the need of the hour. We, as an institution, benefit from our ancient legacy of the entire world being one. As we are informed and influenced by this, we initiated many activities within the school to promote an awareness of the same.

Seeking inspiration from our mission statement “Tamso maa jyotirgamaya”, we too walk from the darkness of ignorance to illumination of knowledge. The inclination of the students, to be known as global citizens was planted sometime back. We are furthering our endeavor to make them confident, compassionate and courageous individuals.

It is about learning about other cultures, languages and about developing open minds that make them curious about the world they live in and its citizens. We want them to be open enough and courteous enough to respect differences without getting divided. We experienced that the benefits far outweigh the challenges. The global friendships that took place were encouraging.

We believe that raising pluralistic awareness is the most enriching contribution we can make to young people. If we give them a global awareness and really emphasize the fact we work in a global market and if we can develop interpersonal relationships with a sense of global citizens, then they will be successful in all that they do. We don’t think it is optional or extra. We think this is something that should be integral to all curricula.

Hence, a plethora of activities were done in the previous sessions which progressively enabled and facilitated us to break through narrow parochialism to an ever widening paradigm of pacifism and pluralism. We would like our comprehensive and concerted approach towards curriculum design to reflect this intent in width and depth. The journey was like a celebration of the International work we do in school.

The winning of the ISA accreditation helped us to enrich learning and improve teaching by guiding our International learning activities right from introducing International Education into the curriculum to embedding it within our school culture.

We do also bear in mind the clarion call of UNO related to trans-national, global citizens and the place of education in it.
