The trip to the Seven Wonders gave an exquisite display of the dances across the globe. The audience loved it. The plight of Devki and Yashodhara over Krishna was beautifully displayed in the Nritya Natika – Krishna. The programme’s highlight was the Circus – a diminishing act in the society where toddlers performed enthralling tricks as clowns, animals and trapeze artists.

The celebration ended with the grand finale in the form of a typical Rajasthani fair, replete with , Kalbelia, camels, jugglers and the Madari with his bear and monkey, who were the centre of attraction.

Educational Trip To Rajasthan

An educational trip to Rajasthan was organized by the school in the last week of October. A group of 95 students accompanied by nine teachers embarked on the journey. Educational trip of such kind give the students a chance to build closer bonds with other students and the chance to build and experience a new environment. The trip started with great zeal and zest from Kanpur to Sawai Madhopur station. The main attraction was Ranthambore National Park Tiger Reserve, where they were attracted by the majestic predators in their natural habitat. They witnessed a fight between two bears, some antelopes, sambar deer and crocodiles. They visited the Ranthambore Fort which is known for its glory and valor of the Chauhan Dynasty.

The students next visited the beautiful Pink City, Jaipur founded in AD 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II, the capital of Rajasthan. It is steeped in history and culture where the past comes alive in magnificent forts and palaces. The Amer Fort, Jal Mahal, Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Jantar Mantar were the places where the students were taken. The students shopped in the bustling bazaars of Jaipur famous for Rajasthani jewellery, fabric and shoes. They visited a paper factory where they learnt how to make handmade paper and also purchased articles made out of it. They were taken to the cultural village of Chokhi Dhani where they experienced Rajasthani traditional hospitality and culture and relished the Rajasthan thali.

Udaipur, the city of lake or Venice of East and Kashmir of Rajasthan, a lovely land around the azure water lakes, hemmed by the lush hills of the Aravallis too attracted the students. It was a fascinating blend of sight, sounds and experiences.

Last but not the least, the most beautiful part of the trip was the visit to Tajmahal. Its breathtaking splendor cast a spell over the students. As god is to bestow nature’s beauty, man’s hand is here to create wonderful pieces of art and architecture.

Educational trips like these are certainly very important for the overall development of students. It breaks the monotony of life, fills the mind with joy and makes learning an enjoyable experience. This trip was an enjoyable and an enriching experience not only for the students but also for the teachers.

A REPORT ON NATURE CAMP: GIANT BANYAN (3rd Largest Tree in the World)

It was ELEMENTS versus LIFE for the students of Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Kanpur on 30th August 2016. They had come to all the way to Lucknow for a day long Nature Camp.

The excited campers got down their busses at Asifi Imambara and were stunned to see the majestic monument. Their mentors Astha and Vartika welcomed them with juice and sandwich.

Braving the hot and humid weather these ‘BRAVE HEARTS’ entered the cool Bhoobhulaiyan or labyrinth. Their DARE (task) was to orient their way through dark narrow alleys and investigate the reason for the construction of this architectural marvel. So great was excitement that they overcame the unfounded fear of darkness and the unknown! Later they also visited the main hall of the Imambara.

At the end of the first session, we all sat down together for debriefing and tried to understood the civil engineering of this one unique structure in the world.
While boarding the busses for the Giant Banyan Tree, every person was happy to see the clouds. They were the harbingers of a pleasant weather.

As we crossed the Gomti river near Chandrika Devi temple, we could see it raining at the other side.
Upon arrival at the Banyan tree parking, we were welcomed by a massive downpour.

Campers were overjoyed; they sang songs, played games in their busses and enjoyed the rains.
When the rain subsided, we walked through the orchards towards the Giant Banyan.
The air was fresh and the silt had settled: A perfect time to visit the Banyan!

As the campers reached the banyan, they gazed at it with awe and admiration. They searched for the main trunk, tried to map its spread, touched the aerial roots pillars; “a wonder of nature” remarked one camper! “Beyond imagination” another Camper told me.

Everyone was really hungry and enjoyed the hot, sumptuous lunch with lucknow specialty: Shahi Tukra for dessert.
Like responsible campers they disposed-off the used utensils properly.

Now it was the time for the dare: DANCING BANYAN. The teams dressed their leader with fallen roots, leaves in the likeness of a banyan tree. They then participated in an Elimination Dance. It seemed as though the Mango orchards all around and Giant Banyan himself seem to be dancing with them to Jungle Beats!

The final scores were announced. The winning teams were awarded medals and then the campers boarded the busses for return journey.
Their initiation as Environment Sensitive Citizens had begun!

Guest Speaker : Dr. Proff. Yashwant Rao (Head of the Deptt. Of Pediatrics)

It has been found that the students in the age group of 12 to 18 years face large number of delicate issues which they don’t want to discuss such as mood alterations, loneliness, aggressiveness, short tempered, peer group pressure, self respect, appearance associated with many physical, physiological or cultural expressions. To address these issues Biology Department invited Dr. Proff. Yashwant Rao Head of the Deptt. Of Pediatrics. along with Dr. Atul Garg H.O.D. Microbiology during ongoing Biology and EVS Week to talk to the students of class 8th on 24th August. Their thought promoting lecture was a great awareness and a help to all of us.

The root cause behind all these issues i. e. Hormones and their roles were discussed in detail. Do’s and don’ts, their importance in the life of a child were also told. Friendly behavior of the parents, liberty with discipline, spending quality time with the children, listening them with patience, all can contribute to tackle the issues.

The view of a student reflects the success of the workshop:
We were told that major pubertal and biological changes include changes to the height, weight and muscle mass as well as major changes in brain structure and organization. Cognitive advances encompass both increases in knowledge and in the ability to think abstractly and to reason more effectively. The study of adolescent development often involves collaborations.

The entire session was very interactive and informative. We all were enlightened with information which we all felt hesitant to ask from our elders. It was a good effort made by our school and our parents really appreciated. We all desire that such programs should be held time and again so that the various myths and truths regarding different aspects can be solved in a friendly way.
