POINT
I strongly believe that wind energy is a good source of energy. Wind energy is a clean, renewable source of energy which offers many advantages that makes it the fastest growing energy source in the world.
First of all, wind energy is a clean fuel source. Wind energy does not pollute the air like other power plants that rely on the combustion of fossil fuels. According to the WIND VISION REPORT, wind has the potential to reduce accumulative greenhouse emission by 14 percent saving 400 billion dollars in avoided global damage.
Secondly wind power is cost effective. It is one of the lowest cost renewable technologies available today.
Thirdly wind is a domestic source of energy. The nation’s wind supply is abundant. Over the past 10 years wind capacity has increased an average of 31 percent per year. Government also plans to rapidly accelerate wind energy by adding an ambitious 10,000 MW every year.
These are just a few out of hundred advantages of wind energy. I would like to rest up by saying that wind energy have helped many working industries to overcome their problems.

Counterpoint
I, on the other hand, believe that wind energy is not a good source of energy as there are many challenges associated with harnessing this type of energy mostly due to its intermittent value. Here are a few of these challenges.
Wind is inconsistent. Its speed fluctuates each day which can be a big disappointment to wind turbine developers who will commit every penny and ounce of energy in the project only to end up with fluctuating patterns.
Setting up wind turbines involves high upfront capital investment.
Turbines might cause change of view shed. Being visible is not the same as being intrusive.
The most hated disadvantage to wind turbines is the noise they produce. The sound made by one turbine can be perceived from far distances. Along with this, wind turbines also take up significant portion of land. Installation of these would take away land that has been the bedrock of agricultural activities for many years.
The severe storms can cause damage to the wind turbines and can be a safety hazard to people working in these wind farms.
Over and above, wind turbines are suited to the coastal regions which receive wind throughout the year to generate power. Therefore countries that do not have any coastal or hilly areas may not be able to take any advantage of wind power.
With this, I would like to rest my case by saying that wind energy, no doubt offers the best advantages in regard to environment. However, it harbors many disadvantages worth putting into perspective if you intend to invest in wind energy.
